Joanna received a MA in Women’s Studies at the University of York in 2018. Her research dissertation explores young adult’s understandings on the issue of gender inequality in Hong Kong. By using auto-photography as research method, participants took photos that they perceived as related to the theme ‘gender inequality’ and followed up with an in-depth interview.

Prior to joining CUHK, Joanna worked at RainLily, a non-governmental organization providing free support services for victims of sexual violence. She mainly helped with organizing fund-raising events and curating exhibitions related to gender equity.
