The Department is searching for a distinguished sociologist to enhance research and education within the Department.
The candidate should possess a relevant PhD degree and is expected to be
- a sociologist who is a thought leader, prolific author, and being frequently cited in the field;
- an esteemed scholar known for strong academic leadership and with a compelling vision for the Department;
- a dedicated mentor committed to nurturing future thought leaders for the Department; and
- a scholar with a record of success in obtaining competitive research funding.
The appointee will be responsible for
- teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
- supervising postgraduate research students;
- undertaking scholarly research;
- applying for competitive research grants;
- contributing to academic capacity-building activities; and
- providing academic leadership and management service.
Salary and Fringe Benefits
Appointment will normally be made on contract basis for up to three years initially, which, subject to mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation. Outstanding candidates may be specially considered for substantive appointment forthwith. The remuneration package will be highly competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
