Wendy received an MSc in Social and Cultural Anthropology at University College London in 2022. Her research examines the meaning of the ‘anti-structure’ of ritualized Gaokao (Chinese College Entrance Exam) and explores its resilience among Chinese undergraduates. She is interested in exploring individuals’ daily interactions by using ethnographic research methods (participant observation, in-depth group discussion, and interview) to understand how social institutions shape individuals’ behaviors and identities.
Prior to joining CUHK, Wendy worked with the Center for OrangAsli Concern (COAC) and other non-government organizations in Kuala Lumpur. She specifically focused on the sustainable development of indigenous communities in Malaysia during the pandemic era.
